The Teacher Conservation Institute (TCI) is a series of multi-day professional development workshops for educators focusing on the scientific stewardship of our natural resources. The courses are designed to showcase the environmental, social, and economic benefits provided by our Texas forests while equipping teachers with resources to implement TEKS-correlated forestry education in the classroom.

Austin Urban Connections TCI (Austin AREA)
Austin-area K-8 teacher or informal educator curious about our natural environments, carbon & climate change, and sustainability?
Teacher Conservation Institute: Austin Urban Connections is a two-day training that supports educators in introducing outdoor and environmental learning into any setting.
Dates: June 3rd and 4th, 2023 (8am to 5pm)

In this hands-on training, you will:
• Become a certified PLT educator
• 16hrs CPE Credit - TEKS Aligned, STEM Correlated
• Join local experts on field tours that model sustainability experiences you can share with your
students
• Get your own award-winning curriculum and materials to bring forests into any learning setting
• Connect to a network of subject matter experts and educators to support your learning goals.

Green Jobs TCI
Are you interested in learning about forestry and the environment? Do you want to help your middle/high school students pursue a fun outdoor career in natural resources? Come join us on some exciting outdoor tours showcasing these careers. We will explore a tree farm, logging operation, and forest products manufacturing facility where you will learn about Texas working forests and STEM forestry careers. Additionally, you will become certified in Project Learning Tree's Green Jobs Curriculum, which includes four hands-on instructional activities to help youth research forestry jobs and practice managing and monitoring forest resources. The curriculum is TEKS-aligned and STEM oriented. Formal educators will receive 16 hours of CPE / TEEAC hours.
